Pillar Sports was born out of a real need on the rugby field. Co-founded in 2015
by long-time teammates Brendan Ireland and Liam Gallaher, the idea was simple: **
create high-quality sports strapping tape that athletes could rely on — no compromise.**

“As players ourselves, we understood just how crucial good tape is,” says Brendan,
now Director of Pillar Sports. “We wanted to build something that gave every athlete
access to premium gear.”

Their first-ever order? A partnership with the **[Uni Norths Owls](https://uni-norths.clubland.au/)**
in Canberra’s John Dent Cup — a club Pillar Sports is proud to still support a decade
later.

“That moment meant everything,” Brendan reflects.

“Getting our first tape line out to a club felt like the start of something real.”

## **Growth Through Grit**

The early days weren’t without challenges. Standing out in a crowded market took
relentless work.

“Creating a recognizable brand in such a competitive space has been our biggest 
hurdle — and it still is,” Brendan admits.

“But we’re committed to getting better every day, for our customers and the community
we serve.”

Over time, product quality, consistency, and genuine relationships have helped Pillar
Sports thrive. **Key partnerships** with elite clubs, physiotherapists, and national
teams followed.

The brand has expanded far beyond its rugby roots, now supporting athletes across
multiple sports worldwide.

“As a former athlete and General Manager at a sports club, I know how tough it is
to grow something sustainable,” Brendan says. “That’s why we take a holistic approach—
we want to give back to the community, not just sell to it.”

## **Looking Ahead: The Next Chapter**

What’s next? **A lot.**

“We’re excited to expand our reach into new sports and continue building meaningful
partnerships,” Brendan shares. “One of our goals is to be a trusted name at the 
elite level — and we’re getting closer every day.”
