Pillar Sports is delighted to announce a new partnership with Hong Kong China Touch (HKCT). As a company founded in Hong Kong, Pillar Sports is proud to support Hong Kong China Touch’s upcoming World Cup participation, we are honored to support the success of the Hong Kong China Touch team.
Hong Kong China Touch is sending nearly 100 players across six teams to the Touch World Cup in Nottingham, a significant increase from the single team in 2019. Notable participants include former sevens star Ricky Cheuk and Ivy Kwong, a 2017 women’s Rugby World Cup veteran. Dr. Diana Li, chairwoman of Hong Kong China Touch and mixed over-30s player, highlights the community’s dedication. The tournament features 180 teams from 39 countries. This event aims to boost touch rugby’s profile with aspirations, alongside rugby sevens, as one of the Olympic sports. The effort is supported by Hong Kong China Rugby, driven by volunteers, and underscores the sport’s growth in Hong Kong.

“We are proud and excited to support the community’s efforts in this year’s Touch World Cup campaign. It is amazing to witness the growth and engagement of the non-contact form in Hong Kong. With the biggest contingent heading to Nottingham, we are grateful to have the support of our key partners. Thank you again to Pillar Sports for supporting all taping needs for all the players.” – Rocky Chow, Hong Kong China Rugby’s Chief Community Officer.
The Hong Kong China squad, which includes seasoned players, will compete in a variety of categories, hoping to improve their competitive edge and display their abilities on a global stage. Participation in the World Cup is part of HKCT’s plan to promote touch rugby in Asia.
“On behalf of Pillar Sports, we are thrilled and honored to be able to support the Hong Kong China Touch in their bid to represent the city at the coming FIT Touch World Cup 2024.” – Brendan Ireland, Pillar Sports Limited Director
